1st day
Bells Palsy is a famous disease in my country nowadays, because Rano Karno (he’s a senior actor who was selected to be Banten Governor) had it, it’s a kind of temporary stroke in the face because of AC virus or in another way because of chilled nerves. I saw the explanation about it on television often. But, I never supposed that Bell's Palsy could hit my family...
Yesterday my mother woke up in the morning with a stiffy half face, I thought she’s got a toothache, but looking at her drooling and having difficulty speaking, I feel she had a serious disease. She went to the office in a mess, even though she driving her car! And had to search on Google about the early stage of stroke.
I worried about her and decided to clean up my house immediately, I am really sure that she would come home after going to the doctor. Then, my aunt called, she said my mother need to hospitalize at the hospital and asked me to prepare the stuff at home.
I’m so panicky!!! I saw my mother stay on the bed of the polyclinic building PTPN Hospital, she's moved from UGD (or ICU) because the room is not available. The hospital is over capacity, even the ICU room is full until the patient must stay in a wheelchair, yes, a wheelchair. There is an old couple who sat in a wheelchair near the ICU room, they queue for the ICU bed and the ICU patient waiting in the room.
Looking at this situation my mother feels so worried, she doesn't like to waiting, especially in an ill condition. The condition got worse when the polyclinic staff ask us for leaving because they were closed, then my mother moved back again to ICU and stay in a wheelchair for more than 1 hour until decided to change the hospital. I can't imagine if we stay there. So awful maybe...
Fortunately, we got the room in RSUD Kelas B Ciereng, it's a VVIP room. Actually based on BPJS regulations we would have 2nd class (max) but looking at her condition we decided to put her in the VVIP room, my mother is picky so putting her with other people would be difficult and made her want to go home early.
FYI for getting a VVIP room, we must pay Rp 2.500.000 as a deposit t first, that money would paying back to us after being reduced by other costs (such as medicine and medical treatment), every case is different depending on the diagnosis.
We stay in Kemuning room, there are only 8 rooms inside with a little guest room in front of the receptionist and office, every room has a washroom and (private) porch. The facility is patient furniture (bed, cupboard, table, etc) and medical equipment, 1 sofa, 1 water dispenser, 1 medium refrigerator (single), LCD (cable TV), shoe rack, towel hanger, and (porch) chair. Actually, it’s a comfortable room... FYI, in front of the patient's bed, there are “insomnia pray (for moslem)” displayed, so helpful for calming the patient.
As common Indonesian people around the world, if one family is staying in the hospital another family would come and make a work shift to watch the patient. It’s very helpful because I had many hands for taking care of my mother hehe even though sometimes I am confused by messy stuff.
My mother's condition is awful, her right face is clumsy and her left body (from shoulder to finger) is hard to move. She even couldn't drink rightly... the nurse said “Don't let her go anywhere” It’s the hardest thing to do because my mother is stubborn, she always tried to wake up for going to the washroom. I understood that she is really want to pee or anything, but her condition is awful, she couldn't stand because she’s got a half-body stroke... we tried to help by putting diapers on her and offering a pee pot. The option that absolutely she rejects hehe... That night I couldn't sleep properly because she couldn't sleep...hehe
2nd day
Finally, my mother is agree to try diapers and a pee pot, but it doesn't help, for making it easier we discuss it with the doctor and nurse, then we decided for using a tube to help her, it was the best decision.
Today we (me and Puput) brought her to Radiology Lab for an X-Ray check, the result is good nothing serious in her body except the fact that hers couldn't work properly. In the afternoon we went to Dewi Sartika Laboratorium for CT-Scan by ambulance, on the way there I feels so sad and worried too much for her, especially when saw her weak face. My mother's body is average to fat, so moving her to another bed is a thought job hehe Also we need more than 2 nurses for moving her (excluding us).
Today is better than yesterday, she can eat her meal slowly and talking some words clearly. Keep fighting Mom!!!
3rd day
7 people stay with my mother, me and my sister Widy, my aunty Wa Iti and her son Mas Hendi, my aunty Wa Endang and her daughter Puput + her son-in-law Abon, I feel living in the small rented house a.k.a rumah petak hehe
In the morning some of us would leave for work and come back in the night. We (the girls) spent this morning by face makeover on the porch hehe
My sister going back to Bandung this afternoon before the rain, she promised to come on Saturday morning. I can feel my mother is sad that she leaves, but however, she is busy.
For the first doctor diagnosis, my mother got Bells Palsy, but it’s only the beginning of the disease, that’s Bells Palsy continues into half body stroke. Even if it’s half body stroke, we’re grateful my mother was sent to the hospital immediately, because there are 6 gold hours period which is valuable, in that 6 hours at least the patient must go to the hospital to get the infuse, if longer than 6 hours maybe she would have whole body stroke.
4th day
Her blood pressure is decreased consistently, but she still doesn't want to eat hospital meals, so I talk to Nutricior to change the menu, from filtered porridge to jelly. Besides that, we added fruit to gain her energy such as bananas, pears, apples, and squash water.
Today her coworker came to visit her, it’s the first time they met as one department. Our room is full... hehe most of them asked for leaving their job, forgetting about it for a while. The therapist came after, and he trained my mother's body, it’s seems difficult because her body didn't move anyway. Oh, btw she can feel the touch on her foot... I tested by pinching her skin hehe she might be surprised when realizing the mark hehe
VC called me, asking about my readiness because Fahria and Maya would come to visit her... a little break maybe, but I still couldn't decide because of my mother's condition and my status... hehe... being unemployed isn't nice for heard.
5th day
My mother is fussy, maybe because she stays in bed for a long time, and she got irritation on her skin because of the covered sweat. it’s hard for her to sleep tight, so she moves to the right and left randomly and makes us tired for making her comfortable. Also, She had 4th infuse needle today because of that.
Surprisingly, she asking porridge for her lunch instead of milk or jelly and she ate well, it was because she was hungry, and heard about the woman next to our room allowed for sent back home because her meals were all gone (the fact is her daughter ate the rest).
Her coworker (another department) visited today, they told my mother about the chance of healing is so big, many people proved surviving so don't worry about that. Most of the visitors came with an envelope (aka money) and food, of course, my mother only ate a little the rest is for us hehe... But sometimes we got many food in a day, so we gave it to a family who visited us or the nurse at the front desk and the security.
She seems happy when her friend came to visit, even though sometimes she is visited by an unknown well person or just knew not a close friend.
Happy Mother's Day :* :* :*
6th day
Sometimes I feel so angry when facing my mother, in the one side I feel frustrated with her condition, I still can't accept her (un)capability during her ill, but on the other side I feel sorry for making her feel difficult, might she do.
After 6 days in the hospital, our topic shifted to payment things, we need other options after BPJS because we were jumping from 2nd classroom into the VVIP room and worried that BPJS couldn't cover our payment. I thought every company which used BPJS should choosing 1st class for made their employee feels secure and calm in the hospital, it doesn't matter if they (the company) choose 2nd class or 3rd class but however, but everyone needs the best for their healthy.
My mother is the 1st case (in her office) of a BPJS claim, many people waiting for the result of payment things, they (HRD) managed other (private) insurance (which is being the partner before BPJS) to investment insurance than healthy insurance because they thought that BPJS could cover all the payment as the promise of advertisement. So lets we see...
7th day
Our family came to visit us, and my sister was crazy about my mother... It’s kind f a regular day of visiting. The good news for today is my mother can move her foot, a tiny movement is very helpful.
Ok, here is the explanation of BPJS service in (Subang) hospital.
If we used BPJS for hospitalization (1st class, 2nd class, and 3rd class) they would serve the standard, the doctor who checking is a general doctor (not a specialist doctor) and we must buy the medicine by ourselves, so BPJS only covers the room (and facilitation) cost, appropriate with the type of class we took.
If we jumping class to VIP or VVIP, they would serve over the standard, the private room (including the facility) and the nurse is ready 24 hours, the doctor who checking is a specialist doctor, and could be more than 1 specialist doctor depending on the disease, the medicine (including with external medicine) is buying by the hospital (automatically included in the bill). BPJS would cover the cost appropriate with the type of class we took only and we must pay the rest. For VIP and VVIP BPJS looking at the diagnosis level, the hard disease is easier.
8th day
The doctor said that she is able for going home, and her healing would be increasing after she stays at home, finally... I’m so happy for her ups... we’re happy for her, congratulation. Then, we spent the afternoon relaxing hehe At that time we’re stay around my mother's bed while doing our own business, but even though we were watching my mother, no one realize my mother falling down until heard her screaming.
We were shocked to find my mother's body on the floor, she was falling because my cousin forgot to pull up the fence of the bed after giving her medicine, and her head hit the infuse pole. In the next scene, we stay around her bed, to keep her safe and watch her move directly.
After that, my mother isn't moving from her pose, she worried about falling down for the second time. What we worried about the most is her head, we worried her condition getting worst, and unable to go home tomorrow. Fortunately, after a body check the nurse said “She is fine only a little bit shocked”. Then we laughed at her hehe...
9th day
I woke up on fire and started my day by packaging all the stuff in the room. Nothing to do then besides checking up the bag and the stuff. We stay after the afternoon because waiting for the doctor who is never to come, yes, she couldn't come because her father was sick. So we spent the half day for nothing (the nurse told us in the noon).
We are pending the payment because all BPJS staff in the hospital went to the meeting, ALL, ALL BPJS STAFF. How could they ALL leave the job without a replacement? It’s made me upset. From the consumer's view, this is a critical moment, we want to leave clearly and feel so objected to coming back to the hospital for taking care of the pending payment. It’s useless. No one was there.
Nothing I can say except “Welcome home Mom!!”
